Neal Martin could barely contain his excitement when he was introduced to the wines of Anthony Thévenet, which should say a lot about these wines! Having formerly worked for Georges Descombes and Jean Foillard, both leading authorities of Beaujolais, Anthony founded his eponymous domaine in 2013 after inheriting some old vines from his grandfather and quickly found success. The Morgon Cuvée Vieilles Vignes comes from two parcels of vines, one of which was planted in the late 1960s and the other, over 100 years ago. Always sticking out as a high point in his range, the 2015 Morgon Cuvée Vieilles Vignes was described by Josh Raynolds (Vinous) as "one of the monuments of the vintage". |
