Medium-bodied and super-concentrated, with well-integrated acidity, tannin and alcohol, this is a big, rich, profound 2012 to drink over the next two decades. The 2012 Acte 4 has quite a strict bouquet at first that needs more encouragement than other vintages from the glass. Grips the palate, this is one of the highest alcohol wines in the vintage and yet it is balanced, with so much flavour and presence that just fills the palate and hangs on. This is perhaps the most modern in style of all the Cuvée Jean Gautreaus that I have tasted, yet there is panache here, and it feels long and tender in the mouth.
