Tighter and darker on the nose than the Suchots, hinting at black fruits, licorice, minerals and flowers. Also less sweet in the mouth but already delivers outstanding tension and definition, with the dark fruit and bitter chocolate flavors complicated by an element of noble herbs. The superb palate-staining finish features firm, suave tannins and outstanding subtle persistence. This aristocratic wine will need more patience than the Suchots but should ultimately surpass it. |

It has a very floral bouquet, with wilted rose petals infusing the brambly red fruit, and hints of lavender tucked in just beneath. The medium-bodied palate is strict and linear, offering quite firm tannin and perhaps just requiring a little more finesse toward the finish at the moment. This is quite an uncompromising Village Cru, but intellectually it is very satisfying. |
