If ever there were a definitive white wine producer in Burgundy it would likely be a tie between Puligny-based Leflaive and Meursault specialist Coche-Dury. Commonly known simply as Coche, this domaine is a magnificent producer with holdings in the most important vineyards not just in Meursault but in the wider Côte de Beaune as well. Even their villages level wines are blue chip quality and highly sought after by collectors and investors.

It's quite a forward wine, even in barrel, but it certainly doesn't lack the acidity or concentration to age. It comes across more backward when compared to the 2015 Meursault Rougeot or Narvaux that preceded this wine at the domaine tasting. The palate offers candied orange peel on the entry that gallivants about with mandarin and grapefruit. It is hot-wired with a killer line of acidity that imbues this Puligny with supreme energy. The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseigneres comes from a single hectare of vines planted in the 1950s. I often feel their Puligny is overlooked simply for the crime of not being "Meursault." The bouquet is very precise and focused, offering Golden Delicious apple, honeysuckle and light fennel scents, plus faint orange blossom aromas. The palate is powerful and intense with a fine bead of acidity, hints of praline infusing the slightly peachy fruit, and then coheres beautifully toward the persistent finish.
