Red berry fruit is laced with morels, pressed rose petals, leather and incense, quite complex and involving. The palate is medium-bodied with commendable depth considering the season. Pure red fruit with wonderful piquancy, hints of white pepper and clove lead towards quite a weighty and compelling finish. My recorked bottle lost some verve with 24 hours, suggesting that this wine is probably best for mid-term drinking-say, beginning in five years. But that brilliant nose can't be duplicated anywhere outside the northern C o te de Nuits.
