The 2019 Pommard Clos des Epeneaux 1er Cru was bottled in June and July ‘21. Very perfumed and floral scents on the nose, dark cherries, bergamot, damp earth and touches of clove, later hints of violet and blood orange (traits that I observed out of barrel). This is nicely detailed. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, fine acidity, lightly spiced with a classy espresso-tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. Excellent.保税价格￥ 7,085.00 -
Burghound (93-96)
(from a .56 ha parcel). A wonderfully spicy and exuberantly fresh nose offers up notes of dark berries, lavender, rose petal, jasmine tea and a whiff of sandalwood. The super-sleek and almost painfully intense flavors are incredibly fine and when allied with good richness and minerality, it makes for an almost irresistible texture on the balanced finish that flashes both huge length and focused power. The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru was showing just a small reduction on the nose, but that is shaken off with some aeration to reveal intense dark plum and citrus fruit plus touches of blood orange. The palate is velvety-smooth with finely pitched acidity and good tension. Quite sappy toward the finish, with the structure and persistence one expects from such a noble Premier Cru. The 2019 Meursault Goutte d'Or 1er Cru has plenty of freshness on the nose, the scents of crushed stone, mirabelle, Japanese yuzu and blood orange all beautifully defined. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh, delivering impressive weight toward the finish. The 2019 Meursault Les Porusots 1er Cru has one of the feistier aromatics from Dominique Lafon, featuring vibrant yellow plum, marmalade and orange pith aromas, very well defined and wonderfully assimilated with the oak. The palate is balanced with a crisp bead of acidity that offsets the richness; elegant and refined, leading to a silky-smooth hazelnut and spice-infused finish. The 2019 Volnay Clos des Chênes 1er Cru comprises four barrels, of which one is new. It has a charming, well-defined and very pure bouquet of raspberry and wild strawberry fruit laced with crushed stone. The palate is silky-smooth right from the start, very cohesive and displaying a fine bead of acidity; it actually reminds me of Michel Lafarge in style. The 2019 Volnay Les Santenots-du-Milieu 1er Cru, matured in a little more new oak than the Clos des Chênes (around one-third, according to Lafon), offers a quintessential Santenots nose of almost brazen blueberry and cassis aromas mixed with raspberry and violets. The palate is rounded on the entry and exerts a gentle grip. The 2019 Meursault Blagny La Genelottes 1er Cru is planted on white clayey soils, meaning that the vines did not suffer at all in this warm growing season. It has an engaging bouquet of white peaches and greengage, touches of red apples rather than green, and hints of lemon thyme. The palate is very harmonious with quince jus on the entry and a little more spiciness on the finish compared to the La Garenne. A lovely blood orange note lingers on the aftertaste. (Winemaker Brian Sieve explained that this has as much to do with the cellar in Meursault vis-à-vis Puligny as with winemaking decisions.) The palate is well balanced with a rounded entry, smooth and harmonious, offering tropical tones of apricot and nectarine.
