The 2018 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru has a more backward and sulky bouquet compared to the Poruzot Dessus. The palate is better with orange zest and quince on the entry, quite tight and precise, although it is missing some persistence compared to the aforementioned Premier Cru on the finish. Decidedly ripe yet still quite fresh aromas are comprised by notes of red cherry liqueur and earth. The medium weight flavors are exceptionally rich compared to what is typical for wines at this level while possessing a caressing mouthfeel that contrasts only slightly with the mildly rustic and firm finish. The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Bousselottes 1er Cru offers ripe black currant, raspberry and wilted rose petal aromas on the nose, hints of blue fruit emerging with aeration. The oak is nicely integrated here. The medium-bodied palate offers supple tannins that are slightly chalky in texture, like the Chaignots, though here there is more weight and backbone toward the finish. The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has a very perfumed and floral bouquet with wilted rose petal and touches of lavender infusing the mainly red berry fruit. I appreciate the detail and delineation of this N.S.G. The palate is very fine and matched with a superb line of acidity, the lively red fruit laced with subtle hickory and white pepper notes, fanning out nicely toward the finish while maintaining superb freshness. Full-bodied, rich and muscular, it's deep and concentrated, with a serious chassis of ripe, powdery tannins, lively acids and a long, resonant finish. The 2018 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is raised in 25% new oak and is almost entirely made from whole bunches. That stem addition gently guides the aromatics here, imparting a subtle pepperiness and earthiness that combines deftly with the vivid black fruit; perhaps there is less blue fruit here compared to other Bonnes-Mares this vintage. The palate is well balanced with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity, reminiscent of de Vogüé in some ways. The slightly confit finish manages to retain impressive freshness. Racked three or four weeks prior to my visit, the 2018 Bourgogne Passetoutgrains contains 10% Gamay. It has a crisp red cherry and wild strawberry bouquet with veins of blue fruit. The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Hauts Doix 1er Cru includes 25% new oak and around 50% whole bunch and represented the first vines to be picked this vintage; the alcohol is under 13.0° at the moment. This has a beautifully defined, well-focused and quite mineral-driven bouquet packed full of blackberry and raspberry fruit. The palate is full of primal energy, the red fruit framed by succulent tannins that form an almost corpulent finish, which disguises the structure underneath.
