Haut-Médoc
Haut-Médoc is a world-renowned wine region located on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, home to some of the most prestigious and sought-after wines in the world. The Haut-Médoc appellation covers a vast area of about 4,600 hectares, stretching from the outskirts of Bordeaux to the tip of the Médoc peninsula, and encompassing some of the most iconic appellations in Bordeaux, such as Margaux, Saint-Julien, Pauillac, and Saint-Estèphe. These actually account for the majority of the wines produced within the Haut-Médoc and have their own AOC. The more general title is used for vineyards lying outside these communes.
The wines of Haut-Médoc are known for their elegance, complexity, and aging potential, and are made predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc grapes. The terroir of Haut-Médoc is characterized by gravelly soils that provide excellent drainage and reflect the sunlight, producing grapes with intense flavors and aromas.
Whether you're a collector, a connoisseur, or simply a wine lover looking to sample some of the best value vinous delights, Haut-Médoc is the place to be.

Formerly the property of one of Napoleon's generals, this estate is now performing impressively after renovations. This wine is richly structured and packed with black fruits. Dark tannins vie with black currants and ripe spice in this wine that will age well. Drink from 2024.保税价格¥ 1,175.00 -

The 2016 Bibian has a tightly-wound bouquet that demands more coaxing than its peers, eventually revealing pure blackberries, raspberry, cedar and light mint aromas. The oak here is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very pure and polished with some classy new oak assiduously blended. This is a classy offering and one of the best Cru Bourgeois that I have tasted this vintage. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.保税价格¥ 850.00 -

Another little gem Cru Bourgeois is the 2015 Château Cambon La Pelouse which comes from close to equal amounts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with roughly 4% Petit Verdot. It offers a darker edge in its blackcurrant, underbrush, tobacco and earthy aromatics, is medium-bodied, beautifully concentrated, and has building tannin. It's absolutely worth seeking out and will drink nicely for a decade or more.保税价格¥ 1,470.00 -
James Suckling (94)
A wine with blueberry and mineral aromas follows through to a full body, with fine tannins and a juicy finish. Best for years from here. Needs at least three years of bottle age to soften. Could be better than 2009 in the long run.保税价格¥ 3,770.00 -

Impressive richness and clarity of red and dark berries. Lightly spiced-pastry aromas, too. The palate has a very crisp, polished and groomed tannin texture, as well as super fresh flavors that carry long. Great wine. Try from 2022.保税价格¥ 2,930.00 -

This is another successful vintage from this estate. It is so finely structured that you notice the blackberry fruit more than the tannins, with a seam of crisp acidity throughout.保税价格¥ 1,635.00 -

From the esteemed vineyards of Bordeaux comes the remarkable Chateau d'Issan, Haut-Medoc 2020. This notable Margaux estate, dating back to the 12th century, is historically reputed for producing prestigious wines of expressive character. This impeccable 2020 vintage, symbolic of the estate’s meticulous viniculture practices, possesses a brilliant blend of predominantly Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon. Grown on deep gravel and clay soils, the grapes are handpicked, embarked on a prolonged fermentation and aged in French oak barrels for 18 months. In the tradition of Bordeaux's wine-making excellence, the Chateau d'Issan, Haut-Medoc 2020 exhibits a transcendent balance of intensity and refinement, making it a superior addition to any connoisseur's collection.

This richly structured wine manages to maintain balance and plenty of black-fruit acidity. Showing a firm texture that will soften, it's a blend of equal parts of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with just a touch of Petit Verdot. The wine needs to age further, so drink from 2022.保税价格¥ 1,305.00 -
James Suckling (94)
A chewy, linear 2018 with very attractive blackberry, chocolate and wet-earth character. Some mushrooms, too. It’s full-bodied, very tight and tannic, yet polished and creamy-textured. Flavorful finish. Very typically Medoc. Needs three years to soften. Try after 2024.保税价格¥ 1,250.00 -

The 2016 Citran has a classic tobacco-scented bouquet that is quite austere at first but opens up with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, not complex but offering fine salinity toward the finish, which just needs a little more mineralité and detail.保税价格¥ 1,155.00 -
Decanter (93)
Now certified organic, and converting to biodynamics from this year. It displays a confident weight to the damson fruits that are hugely elegant and well placed. A little closed when tasted on two occasions, and the high Petit Verdot content of this wine is no doubt contributing to its slight austerity at this stage, but it also brings that beautifully welcome whoosh of black fruit spicing. Very good quality, elegant and long-ageing, just a dash below the exceptional 2015.保税价格¥ 4,390.00 -
James Suckling (93-94)
A firm, polished red with tight, focused tannins that flow across the palate. It’s medium-to full-bodied with good length and a gorgeous finish. From organically grown grapes.保税价格¥ 2,070.00 -

The 2014 Peyrabon is an attractive, supple Haut-Médoc to drink now and over the next few years. Succulent red cherry, plum, tobacco and cedar wrap around the juicy, pliant finish. This is nicely done.保税价格¥ 1,350.00 -
James Suckling (93-94)
Tight and chewy yet polished and beautiful. Medium to full body, a pretty core of fruit within the center palate and a flavorful finish. Better than 2015 and on the same level as the excellent 2014.保税价格¥ 1,820.00
