The 2019 Echézeaux Les Rouges Grand Cru has a very intense bouquet with dark berry fruit than other cuvées, black cherries, boysenberry, hints of violet and a whiff of chalk dust. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grip on the entry, a melange of red and black fruit, clove, touches of game in the background. This feels like a more savoury Echézeaux, very well balanced with impressive density on the finish. This is very impressive though it will benefit from several years in the cellar.

The 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru contains 60% whole bunches. It comes from three plots that, still, only made two and a half barrels this year. It has a very well defined bouquet that seems to blossom in the glass, although it will need some time for the stems to be assimilated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, very peppery in style with touches of white pepper and bay leaf towards the persistent finish. This is a classy wine, one that is not unlike Dujac’s Echézeaux!

This excellent Echézeaux is clearly constituted for the longer haul and a wine that will require 15 to 20 years to reach its full potential.

Wine Advocate (92-94)

The 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru is showing especially well, bursting with scents of peonies, blood orange, wild plums, cassis and exotic spices. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and expressive, it's lively and sapid, with a pretty core of fruit, bright acids and powdery tannins. This derives from domaine holdings in En Orveaux, where Weber identifies appreciable diurnal shift as a source of freshness.

The 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru, which comes from the lieu-dit of Les Champs Traversins, has a well-defined bouquet of raspberry and wild strawberry fruit, loamy/sous-bois scents and a touch of wilted iris petals. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, crisp acidity and a lightly spiced finish. This is a well-crafted Echézeaux from Bichot/Clos Frantin, and it should give 15–20 years’ drinking pleasure, possibly more.

The palate is medium-bodied with succulent, smooth tannins, the new oak nicely integrated. It will require 4–5 years in bottle but I think this could turn out nicely.
