About Paitin
Paitin di Pasquero-Elia is one of the oldest family-owned wineries in Piemonte, first established in 1796 by Benedetto Elia who then purchased two hectares of Nebbiolo and Barbera vineyards in Bricco di Neive. Owned by the Pasquero-Elia family, Paitin’s wines consistently receive the highest praise from critics around the world. In 1948 Secondo Pasquero-Elia took over the winery and started replanting the vineyards. The oldest vineyard on the property, planted in 1953, now produces Paitin’s flagship wine ‘Barbaresco Riserva Vecchie Vigne’.

The 2019 Barbaresco Basarin, here in its second release, is terrific. It shows a slightly dark fruit profile along with notable textural richness and a feeling of creaminess that is quite appealing. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, menthol and licorice are some of the many notes that take shape in the glass. There's real depth and substance here.保税价格¥ 2,350.00 -

This is very silky and refined with chocolate, meat and coffee aromas and flavors, but it's so refined and beautiful. Impressive for its delicate complexity. Drink now or hold.保税价格¥ 1,205.00 -

The 2016 Barbaresco Serraboella is bright, perfumed and very nicely lifted, with an attractive interplay of floral aromatics and textural depth. Mint, pine, kirsch, dried flowers and sweet tobacco are some of the nuances that emerge. The 2016 is tightly wound and classically austere in style, so it needs time in bottle to unwind, but it has undoubtedly fine potential.保税价格¥ 3,830.00 -

A vivid, solid Barbaresco with intense density of fruit and ripe tannins. It’s full-bodied with lots of plums and chocolate with some walnuts and bark. Extremely flavorful and powerful. Try after 2024.保税价格¥ 2,715.00 -

The 2019 Barbaresco Serraboella is fresh, floral and quite delicate. Bright acids lift a core of red fruit, chalk, mint and white pepper. Nervy and quite aromatic, the 2019 is super-impressive today. I especially like the mineral drive. Give this sinewy, taut Barbaresco a few years to soften.保税价格¥ 2,625.00 -

The 2017 Barbaresco Sorì Paitin is another gorgeous wine from the Pasquero family. It has more power, depth and structure than the Serraboella, with a slightly darker tonalities of fruit and more tannic heft, but the differences between the two wines are not as marked as they can be. That’s what happens sometimes in warm, dry vintages – the differences between sites are baked out. Even so, the Sorì Paitin offers quite a bit of character. I would cellar it for at least a few years.保税价格¥ 3,800.00 -

The 2019 Barbaresco Sorì Paitin captures all the energy of this site. Tense, nervy and in need of cellaring, the 2019 is not an easy wine to taste today, but its drive and intensely mineral personality are impossible to miss. Time in the glass brings out its presence and overall stature. There's a ton to look forward to, that much is pretty clear.保税价格¥ 3,165.00 -

The 2013 Nebbiolo d'Alba Ca' Veja is a delicious entry-level offering from Paitin. Wild strawberry, mint and rose petal give the Ca' Veja its distinctive high-toned aromatics. Succulent, silky tannins give the 2013 much of its up-front appeal. The 2013 is a gorgeous wine to drink now and over the next few years. The mid-weight, lifted style is quite typical of the wines of Alba. Paitin gave the 2013 one year in cask and a second year in tonneau.保税价格¥ 2,380.00 -

The 2015 Nebbiolo d'Alba Ca' Veja is laced with the essence of crushed raspberry, rose petal and mint. Light to medium in body and nicely lifted, the 2015 is an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. Soft, silky tannins add to the wine's finesse. This is very nicely done.保税价格¥ 2,295.00 -
