About Château Montrose
Once a famed hunting area, Château Montrose is now one of the leading estates in Saint Estèphe. This 2eme Grand Cru Classé estate was actually part of the Calon Segur estate in the 1800s.
In 2006 the property was bought by the Bouygues family, who invested €55 million in a high-speed environmentally-friendly renovation. They also hired Jean-Bernard Delmas, the previous director of Château Haut Brion, who ensured that this powerhouse has consistently produced brilliant wines that are dark, full-bodied, muscular and rich from its vines with an average age of 40 years.
The vineyard of Montrose is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. The 95 hectare Bordeaux vineyard has a hillside terroir of deep gravel, with sand and clay soil. Of those hectares, 88 to 90 hectares are always in production. The wine is Cabernet Sauvignon dominated - dark, full-bodied, muscular and rich.

The 2020 La Dame de Montrose is fabulous. Rich, dense and expansive, the 2020 offers notable vibrancy and a good bit of energy too. Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91-94)
Graphite, camphor, incense, tobacco, smoke and game burst from the glass in the 2013 Montrose. A dark, brooding wine, the 2013 boasts notable depth and tannin considering its mid-weight structure. The 2013 will require at least a few years to come together. Graphite, scorched earth, sage and rosemary are some of the notes that inform the intense finish. This has real density for the year. Based on two tastings so far, the 2013 Montrose is making a very strong case for itself as one of the wines of the vintage. A full-bodied powerhouse as well as a perfect wine, the 2018 Château Montrose is a final blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 6% Cabernet Franc that was raised in 60% new French oak. Boasting a deep purple hue as well as awesome levels of crème de cassis and smoky blackberry fruits and notes of tobacco, lead pencil, scorched earth, and chocolate, it's deep, opulent, and incredibly concentrated on the palate, with no shortage of mid-palate depth, tannins, or length. It reminds me a little of a fresher version of the 2003, although there's more Cabernet Sauvignon in 2018 as well as less Merlot. It has that classic Montrose minerality and backward, mineral-laced style, yet I suspect this will be drinkable in just 5-6 years and should evolve into a modern-day legend from this terroir.保税价格￥ 5,710.00 -

It checks in at 13.7% alcohol, the same as the superb 2009, but it is even deeper, more vibrant and more complex than the 2009. The remarkable 2021 Montrose gets my nomination for the title of "wine of the vintage" in the Médoc. Wafting from the glass with a deep bouquet of cassis and dark berries mingled with subtle hints of mint, orange, pencil shavings and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a layered and multidimensional core of fruit underpinned by beautifully ripe, refined tannins. Concluding with a long, resonant finish, it entirely transcends the limitations of the year.
