Today we have collated new release of M. Chapoutier wines from the fabulous Rhône 2017 vintage:

1. 2017 was rated “Outstanding” by Wine Advocate in both Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côte-Rôtie.

2. M. Chapoutier are one of the reference points for the Rhone Valley today. Since Michel Chapoutier took over the reins of the family business in 1988 the estate has just gone from strength to strength. The wines we present today are just a small selection of the enviable range this Hermitage-based winery is able to produce across the region.

3. All three of our selected wines have excellent scores and reviews, and the latter two wines were produced in absolutely minute quantity:

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Barbe Rac 2017 - is 97 points from Jeb Dunnuck who calls it “brilliant and up there with some of the finest vintages to date of this cuvée”.

Côte-Rôtie La Mordorée 2017 - is an unbelievable wine. Scoring 98 points from Dunnuck who calls it: “another incredibly concentrated, yet elegant and ethereal wine from Chapoutier. Rock star levels of kirsch, black raspberries, spring flowers, smoked game, tapenade, and graphite give way to a full-bodied, rounded, straight-up sensationally textured Côte Rôtie. It has the opulence to drink well now yet will keep for two decades or more.” A mere 249 cases were made.

Ermitage Le Méal Blanc 2017 - is another head turner! This white from the 70 year old vines of the famous lieu-dit of Le Méal. It scores 98 points from Wine Advocate where critic Joe Czerwinski calls it “an exhilarating ride.” Only 508 cases were produced!
