2007 La Tâche was restrained and elegant, with an alluring bouquet of bright red fruit such as pomegranate and cranberry, plus a bit of the sweetness of fraise de bois, then an accent of rose petals and violets. The texture is fresh, almost crisp. There is a perfumed elegance, and although the wine lacks the exuberant, dense character of the 2017 vintage, it sustains the fruit with its grippy tannin instead.

Burghound (98)

An ultra-pure, cool and remarkably elegant mix of wonderfully spicy, red and blue pinot fruit, red currant and wild red berries that are openly floral in character. The overtly stony flavors are shaped by notably firm yet extremely fine tannins and while there is ample power and vibrancy, the palate feel is all silk and satin. To be sure, this is a big wine with impressive concentration but 2010 is a vintage for LT of refinement and polish if not exactly finesse. Even so, it's still going to require some 20 to 25 years of cellar time before it reaches its full majority but when it does, it will be considered one of the all-time great vintages for this incredibly storied wine.

Bright, full red. Sexy, multidimensional nose offers red berries, crushed stone, Oriental spices and a pungent smoky complexity. Wonderfully silky and concentrated, with dark raspberry, licorice and mineral flavors combining density and a light touch. This boasts a near-perfect balance of fruits, minerals, acidity and suave, fine-grained tannins. The slowly mounting finish saturates every square millimeter of the palate and builds inexorably. A great showing today. DRC produced 68 barrels of this juice in 2011: you do the math.

I have been fortunate to taste and drink the 2015 La Tâche on multiple occasions, and it has never been anything less than profound. Bright and beautifully focused with tremendous purity of fruit, the 2015 is so dynamic, so compelling. Is it ready to drink? Not for readers who enjoy fully mature Burgundies. But there is something thrilling about catching a wine like this in its youth, when it is still so vibrant and fresh.

The 1971 Richebourg Grand Cru from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti was poured from magnum. It had a powerful, almost burly bouquet as you would expect from this vineyard—perhaps autumnal, brown leaves and a cold Sunday afternoon, touches of Earl Grey infused the dark berry fruit (darker than the 1971 Grands Echézeaux tasted alongside incidentally). The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity, hints of dried orange peel infusing the black and red fruit, all with impressive energy considering that this is now the same age as yours truly. Perhaps I found more breeding on the aforementioned Grands Echézeaux, and yet this is still a gorgeous mature Burgundy that will continue to give immense pleasure over the next decade for those privileged with the experience. The 2014 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru offers a stunning mix of RSV finesse and ripe, generous fruit. Dark red-toned fruit, blood orange, pomegranate and spice lend an exotic flair. Still quite young and wonderfully deep, the 2014 is magnificent. It's a Burgundy that offers a warm embrace. The 2014 can be enjoyed now, but it also has the depth and pedigree to develop beautifully in bottle for many years to come.

The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Vieilles Vignes has turned out especially well, to the extent that it's the best rendition of this cuvée that I can remember tasting chez Dugat-Py. Wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, dark berries, rose petals, incense and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, seamless and multidimensional, with terrific concentration, supple tannins and lively acids.

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (95-98)

(5-Star) Deep purple with an even darker centre. The bouquet is sublime, not just the classic glossy depth of fruit, there is beautifully nuanced detail, and exquisite length, a truly harmonious wine which will make a great bottle. They now pick the Malconsorts later and punch down less than when they first got the vineyard. Drink from 2027-2036.

The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts 1er Cru has a little more fruit intensity on the nose; it is slightly darker by direct comparison. Fine delineation, quite bold in the context of the vintage. The palate is very intense, fine acidity, very sensual with just a hint of dark chocolate and black truffle shavings on the finish. Wonderful.

Now in bottle, the 2022 Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts 1er Cru has a gorgeous bouquet with ebullient red cherry, wild strawberry and crushed stone scents. Hints of wilted rose petals emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine balance and filigree tannins. It's very harmonious with a bravura finish. What a superb Malconsorts this will be.

The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru has a perfumed and enticing bouquet with brambly black fruit, black truffle and Earl Grey aromas gently wafting from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins. The whole bunch influence is discrete here but lends an attractive white pepper and clove note towards the finish that fans out wonderful whilst maintaining freshness and tension. Just outflanked by the Aux Malconsorts, nevertheless, this is a brilliant Les Beaux Monts.

Bright ruby-red. Very expressive aromas of cherry, smoky minerals and coffee. Lovely silky, spicy, mineral-driven village wine with intense flavors of dark cherry, raspberry and chocolate, plus a hint of menthol. Still needs a couple years to absorb its dusty, slightly chocolatey tannins. Dry and classic.

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91)

In keeping with the style of the vintage, the 2020 Vosne-Romanée from Mugneret-Gibourg is a rich, heady Burgundy, perhaps a bit big on its own, but very delicious on a cold winter day. Black cherry, spice, mocha and dried flowers all stain the palate. Dark and enveloping, with notable intensity, the Vosne-Romanée is a gorgeous village-level offering from this renowned domaine.

Vinous (93-95)

The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru, matured in 80% new oak, has a very detailed, focused bouquet of blackberry, briar, raspberry jam and light orange peel aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly tarry opening, a smear of dark chocolate combining nicely with the dark berry fruit, but it is unapologetically backward and surly on the finish compared with the Echézeaux or the Vosne Les Chaumes, so give it some serious cellaring.

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (96)

5 Star Wine. One of the deeper purple colours. There is a significant weight of fruit, and it is clean enough. This is in the very opulent super-ripe fruit whole bunch style. Still needs time for the future path to become clear. A little dryness at the back and some pepper with blood orange notes in the mix. Very long, with some dark pepper notes. Drink from 2033.

Burghound (89-92)

There is just enough reduction present to push the underlying fruit to the background but not so much as to mask the pretty spice wisps. There is an equally seductive mouthfeel to the velvet-textured flavors that possess even better depth on the firm, palate coating and impressively persistent finish. This is an excellent Vosne villages that is worth your interest.
