The palate is medium-bodied with finer tannins than the nose suggests, well balanced but linear and correct. It’s the kind of straightlaced Morey that will show better on the dinner table rather than on its own. |

Finishes with very good spine and length, with a lingering note of dried flowers. This wine comes from vines on very poor subsoil below Clos de la Roche; Stehly notes that it is always strict when young and poor in color. |

Veins of underlying minerality give the 2011 much of its energy and tension. Although Christophe Roumier's wines have become objects of desire for Burgundy lovers all over the world, the Clos de La Bussière remains the most under-appreciated of his wines, mostly because it is often much less charming young than the Chambolles. Readers who can cellar the 2011 are in for a real treat. |
