Decanter (98)The formerly little-known appellation of Cabardès made it into our Decanter World Wine Awards 'Best in Show' selection in London in spring 2018, and now the AOP has done it again, with yet another outstanding effort, this time impressing our Asian judges. This blend of 60% Cabernet Franc with 30% Syrah and 10% Grenache is saturatedly black-red in colour, surrendering fresh, floral aromas backed by enticing black-raspberry and mulberry fruits. On the palate, the wine is deep yet full of lively charm, perfectly summarising the 'crossover' appeal of this appellation, which lies half-way between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. Fine-grained tannins and lacy, billowing acidity carry that raspberry/mulberry fruit all the way to a fresh, graceful finish. Cabernet Franc fans should seek it out. Drink 2018-2026 |

Tim Atkin MW (95)Pujanza wasn't hit by the hail that affected Rioja in 2017, but this is still a pretty concentrated number, made entirely from Tempranillo grown at 630 metres and aged in 25% new wood. Chalky, dense and youthful, it's a wine that's made to mature in bottle, combining intensity with focus, freshness and serious tannins |

Vinous - Neal Martin (83-85)The 2017 Marsau, 14-hectares on clay soil, offers light brambly red fruit on the nose that lacks a little depth and concentration compared to other vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, sharp on the entry with quite high acidity, leading to a straightforward, slightly austere finish. |

Vinous (91)The 2017 Wanderer’s Heart is a multiregional blend of Rhône varieties driven by the Grenache, matured in used oak with higher proportion of whole clusters on the Grenache. It has a floral, pure bouquet that features light scents of broom, fennel and white pepper. The palate is well balanced with gentle grip in the mouth, nice structure (perhaps more so than expected) and a precise, lightly spiced finish where the Mourvèdre imparts a subtle medicinal note. Excellent. |

Vinous (90)The 2017 Man In The Moon comes from a block of Clairette Blanche that is shared with Craven, the vines 30 years old, and matured in used oak. It has a refulgent straw color with fat tears. The generous bouquet features yellow plum, nectarine, candle wax and light vervain tea aromas. The palate is quite phenolic on the entry, well balanced with a waxy texture and resinous in style; ginger and light pepper notes emerge toward the finish. More tactile than overt in fruit, this is a left-field wine from John Seccombe, one I feel is well made and fascinating. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (90)The 2017 Cissac has a well defined bouquet with blackberry, cedar, brown spices and a touch of leather, some new oak (30%) needing a few months to fully integrate. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity and good grip. A saline finish urges you back for another sip. This is a commendable Cissac that makes the most of the vintage. Recommended as it is often a great value. |

James Suckling (93)A plush red with sweet-berry and spice aromas and flavors. Hints of vanilla. Full body. Lush and delicious. Needs a little time to come together, but already very attractive. Drink or hold. |
