One of the most famous vineyards in Catalonia is Bodegas Torres, a renowned winery with a long-standing tradition of producing exceptional wines. Catalonia is known for its red wines, with the Priorat and Penedès regions standing out as premier wine-producing areas. Vineyards such as Clos Mogador, Alvaro Palacios, and Mas Doix produce exceptional red wines that embody the power, complexity, and elegance for which Priorat is renowned. Wine Advocate (96)The 2015 Espectacle del Montsant is a ripe and classic vintage for this exceptional wine produced from a single vineyard in Montsant. This has a forward personality—open, expressive and showy in the nose—from a typically warm and ripe year that resulted in a voluptuous and hedonistic Espectacle that's easy to like. It's rounder and lusher than the 2014 I had next to it, and the two vintages showed very different. The palate is also gentler, with integrated acidity and a soft mouthfeel. Some 6,000 bottles were filled in May 2017. |

Wine Advocate (96)I love the 2015 Clos Martinet, which I find complex and elegant while keeping the Priorat rustic character found in the best vintages, like 2000. It's balanced, and the palate feels ethereal for the concentration it has. The tannins are abundant but very fine-grained, and there is a sense of harmony that is captivating. A great Clos Martinet. I had the chance to drink the 2000 a few days before I tasted this, and it remains one of the best years they have produced. 2015 is also among the best years. The favorites for Sara Pérez are 2009, 2013, 2015 and 2017. 12,000 bottles were filled in April 2017. |

Wine Advocate (97)This time there were two vintages of the top-of-the-range red to taste, as the 2014 is almost finished and the 2015 Clos Mogador will be released soon. In this warmer vintage, there is a little more Cariñena in the blend, with the final breakdown something like 45% Garnacha, 29% Cariñena, 16% Syrah and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. This had the same vinification and aging as the 2014: fermentation with indigenous yeasts and a 35- to 45-day maceration, followed by an élevage in 300-liter barrels and 2,000-liter foudres that lasted 18 months. 2015 is a rounder and easier year than 2014, and it feels a little riper, supple but with good freshness. It's clean and precise with nicely integrated oak. This was an easy vintage for the winery, and the wines are easy to understand and more approachable early on. 31,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2017. |
