The region's iconic wines, Barolo and Barbaresco, crafted from the Nebbiolo grape, epitomize power, elegance, and longevity. These wines boast flavors of red fruit, floral notes, earthy undertones, and firm tannins. Veneto, renowned for its sparkling Prosecco wines, is also famous for Amarone della Valpolicella. Vineyards like Allegrini and Quintarelli produce exceptional Amarone wines with concentrated flavors of dark fruit, spices, and a velvety texture. Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean, offers a different yet captivating expression of Italian wines. These wines exhibit intense fruit flavors, vibrant acidity, and a unique volcanic minerality.

Wine Advocate (97)

Here's a new discovery that I'd like to broadcast far and near. This Riserva is a new wine from Elena Fucci that was initiated with this vintage. It is a limited-edition wine made only in magnums. In fact, I tasted bottle number 1 of 400 made to write this review. The 2013 Aglianico del Vulture Superiore Riserva Titolo is a dark and savory expression with an evolved and profound bouquet that covers all the bases. It offers dried fruit and blackberry with smoke, ash and crushed river stone. That mineral identity is the wine's most important defining characteristic. Aglianico tends to deliver astringent tannins, but this Riserva shows excellent integration and structural management. A new benchmark wine for southern Italy has just been created.

Vinous (93)

Smoky black fruits, crushed stone, animal musk, mint leaf, dried flowers and a hint of clove create a thrilling display as the 2016 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo opens in the glass. Its silky textures flood the palate, motivated by stimulating acidity, giving way to polished black fruits, inner herbal tones and peppery spice. The 2016 is persistent and savory with lingering minerality and remnants of fine tannin. While this is showing brilliantly now, another year or two of cellaring wouldn’t hurt either.

Pride of Southern Italy, Paternoster, Don Anselmo, Aglianico del Vulture 2016 is a true masterpiece, originated from the esteemed volcanic soils of Basilicata. This hand-harvested, 100% Aglianico wine matured in new French oak barrels for 12 months, reaching a perfect synergy between the varietal and wood. This combination results in a complex aroma that brings forth dark fruits, spice, and cocoa, with a clear emphasis on cherries and plums.

Produced by the renowned Paternoster winery, known for employing century-old winemaking traditions, this full-bodied wine stands as a testament to their expertise. The Don Anselmo 2016 vintage presents an elegant tannic structure, complemented by a balanced acidity, leaving a persistent aftertaste, marking it as a wine of superb quality.

Whether you're a collector or simply a fine wine enthusiast, Paternoster, Don Anselmo, Aglianico del Vulture 2016 is a desirable addition to any cellar, promising an unmatched indulgence for the senses.
