Red berry fruit, cola and light spicy notes unfold in the glass but never fully let go. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, layers of candied red fruit and a modicum of spice, fanning out nicely toward the finish. Very fine. |

This is one of the best aromatics that I have encountered from this Grand Cru in 2019. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit. It is actually quite "Mazis" in style thanks to the structure, though it closes down a touch towards the almost surly finish. This is a "serious" Charmes-Chambertin from Arnaud Mortet that deserves several years in bottle. |
