Vinous (93-95)The 2018 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru was cropped at just 18hl/ha due to the way Charles Lachaux cane-pruned the vines after the hail-damaged 2017 vintage. The broody nose reveals hints of dark chocolate infusing the brambly red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit. Structured and foursquare, conservative in some ways, with a strong marine influence developing toward the fresh finish. It will need several years in bottle, but there is good potential here. |

Wine Advocate (96)The 2018 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru confirms all the promise it showed from barrel, wafting from the glass with a striking nose of cassis, wild berries and plums mingled with smoke, violets, coniferous forest floor and wilted rose petals. Full-bodied, velvety and seamless, it's deep and concentrated, with a deep, textural core of fruit that's underpinned by a lively spine of acidity that carries through the long, penetrating finish. |

Vinous (94+)The 2018 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has an outstanding bouquet of vibrant black cherry and boysenberry fruit suffused with minerals. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit on the entry, maybe just a little closed after bottling at the moment, but demonstrating good grip and a strong marine influence on the finish. Give this 3–4 years in bottle. |

Vinous (97)The 2018 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru is more subdued on the nose than Faiveley's Mazis-Chambertin: scents of baked cherry, bergamot, wild strawberry and quite pronounced sous-bois aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiselled tannins, taut and linear. Some new oak momentarily just impedes the finish that detracts from the terroir expression, but it does cohere wonderfully in the glass. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting. |
